OrbieLock Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how OrbieLock handles information when you use the OrbieLock iOS app. It applies only to the OrbieLock app, not to purchases, checkout, shipping, newsletter signups, or other activity on the DeskOrbie website or Shopify store.

Overview

OrbieLock is designed to help you start and manage focus lock sessions on your iPhone. The app uses Apple privacy and permission systems, including Screen Time, NFC, Bluetooth, notifications, Live Activities, local device storage, and iCloud where available.

OrbieLock does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, tracking domains, or a custom OrbieLock backend for app data. We do not sell personal data.

Information Stored By The App

OrbieLock stores app settings and focus-session information so the app can work on your device. This may include:

  • Focus profiles, profile names, profile icons, selected apps and app categories, and whether a profile uses lock-list or allow-list behavior.
  • Saved OrbieLock tag names and app-generated tag identifiers used to manage your NFC tags.
  • Lock schedules, active lock-session state, completed focus-session history, session start and end times, session duration, and session end reason.
  • Emergency unlock allowance state, including remaining unlock count and refill timing.
  • Notification preferences, onboarding state, and other local app settings.
  • DeskOrbie Bluetooth pairing information if you connect DeskOrbie, including device name, DeskOrbie identifier, Bluetooth peripheral identifier, last processed timer event, and last seen time.

Your app and category choices are represented through Apple Screen Time tokens. OrbieLock uses those tokens to apply Apple Screen Time shields for the apps and categories you choose.

iCloud Sync

When iCloud is available for your Apple account, OrbieLock syncs app data through Apple CloudKit in your private iCloud database. The synced data may include profiles, saved tags, schedules, focus-session history, emergency unlock state, and update timestamps.

iCloud sync is used for app functionality so your OrbieLock setup can follow your Apple account. If iCloud is unavailable, OrbieLock keeps working with local data on your device.

Apple Permissions And Device Features

Screen Time

OrbieLock requests Apple Screen Time authorization to block or allow apps and categories you select. Screen Time permissions are managed by iOS and can be changed in your device settings.

Screen Time Insights

OrbieLock may process Screen Time report data on device to show insights, such as focus-session totals or a top app for the week. This Screen Time report data is not sent to an OrbieLock server.

NFC

OrbieLock uses NFC when you scan or write an OrbieLock tag. The app reads or writes the tag payload needed to connect the physical tag with the app experience.

Bluetooth

If you pair DeskOrbie with OrbieLock, the app uses Bluetooth to discover, connect to, and receive timer events from DeskOrbie so a DeskOrbie focus timer can start or end an OrbieLock session.

Notifications And Live Activities

OrbieLock may ask for notification permission to send focus reminders and schedule reminders. The app may also use Live Activities to show an active focus session on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island.

How Information Is Used

OrbieLock uses app information to:

  • Create and manage focus profiles, app blocks, allow lists, schedules, and lock sessions.
  • Start sessions from manual actions, NFC tags, schedules, or connected DeskOrbie timer events.
  • Show session status, reminders, Live Activities, emergency unlock availability, and focus insights.
  • Sync your OrbieLock setup through your private iCloud database when iCloud is available.
  • Maintain app reliability and recover active sessions after relaunching the app.

Sharing And Tracking

OrbieLock does not sell your personal data. OrbieLock does not use your data for third-party advertising or tracking. The app code does not include third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs.

OrbieLock relies on Apple services and frameworks, including Screen Time, CloudKit, NFC, Bluetooth, notifications, and Live Activities. Apple handles data processed by Apple services under Apple privacy terms and device settings.

Store Purchases And Website Data

Buying a physical OrbieLock tag, contacting support through the website, signing up for newsletters, or using checkout happens through the DeskOrbie website and Shopify store. Those website and store activities are separate from the OrbieLock app data described in this policy.

Payment information is handled by Shopify and payment providers, not by the OrbieLock iOS app.

Retention, Deletion, And Controls

Local OrbieLock data remains on your device until you delete it in the app where controls are available, uninstall the app, erase device data, or otherwise remove app data through iOS.

iCloud-synced OrbieLock data follows your Apple account and iCloud app data controls. You can manage iCloud access and app data through Apple device settings and iCloud settings.

You can change or revoke device permissions such as Screen Time, Bluetooth, and notifications in iOS Settings. If you need privacy or support help, contact DeskOrbie through the contact page.

Children

OrbieLock is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the OrbieLock app.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when OrbieLock changes or when privacy requirements change. The effective date at the top of the page shows when this policy was last updated.
